  Beautiful cafe.. nice wine but they sell more expensive than the bottle shops in city

  The only thing good about our experience was the view! Trying to book was a nightmare , no returned call or response to emails. Finally got a booking via email. Arrived about 10mins to 1pm trying to get a staff member to seat us whilst 2 other couples also were , then 55 mins for 2 entrees to come out, wine glasses with lipstick marks on them, plates with dried food on them, dirty water glasses. Then another 45 mins till 4 mains came out, I had even asked what was going on & they said they'd follow up but they didn't. 3 of us had the oyster blade which was cold. 1 had the chicken was warm but a small serve! Ben who delivered the mains didn't apolagise but a female staff member that came along said sorry over & over. The table behind us 2 kids never got there meals so heard them complaining. & about 10 other customers up at the counter asking where there food was or trying to get water for their table. Or trying to get seated! No organisation & no pffer pf a drink whilst waiting or a free dessert to apolagise ... just got ignored! Food is soooo overpriced aswell!

  Houghtons need to make some serious improvements to their infrastructure and traffic management if they are going to continue to stage large events. On April 8 2017 an event at Houghtons caused traffic issues for a 3km radius for most of afternoon and evening. This was due mainly to the fact there is a narrow 2km road through the property, barely wide enough for two vehicles, trying to cope with traffic, mostly buses, going in both directions and thousands of pedestrians simultaneously. The traffic management people I encountered were screaming at drivers causing more confusion and kaos. If going to an event at Houghtons or dropping off / picking up allow a ridiculous amount of time to do so.
